MoU between GIFT University and Leading Chambers of Commerce.



GIFT University has made a history by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sialkot, Gujranwala, and Gujrat Chambers of Commerce on Thursday 26th April 2012. The purpose of doing these MoUs was to bridge the gap between Industry and Academia and to create strong collaboration among them for industrial development in this region.

Mr Nadeem Mustafa, Director Marketing GIFT University opened the session by briefly introducing the objective and purpose of this MOU. The main points agreed in this MOU are:

1. Exchanging Views and Ideas on Course Curriculum

2. Engaging in Joint R & D Projects for Industrial Development in this Region

3. Arranging Trainings as Per Industry Demands

4. Recruitment Services to Industry

Mr Naeem Anwar Qureshi, President Sialkot Chamber of Commerce, Mr Mirza Mushtaq Ahmad, President of Gujrat Chamber of Commerce and Mr Zaheer ul Haq President Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce, Dr Iqbal Tahir Rector GIFT University graced the occasion and shared their views regarding how GIFT University could play its role to strengthen the local industry and what Chambers could do to support the GIFT University and its students.

Chamber Presidents and Rector GIFT University then signed the MoU and exchanged the copies with each other. They all showed real commitment to make this initiative a contributing factor in the development and success of this Golden Triangle (Sialkot, Gujrat and Gujranwala)

This remarkable ceremony was also witnessed by leading CEOs and Industrialists of this region and senior professionals of the corporate sector, who also appreciated this vision of minimizing the gap between Industry and Academia and ensured their support to make it successful.



IBA & GIFT Signs MOU.



The role of entrepreneurship and an entrepreneurial culture in economic and social development has become increasingly apparent as it greatly contributes to economic development. With the objective to promote the entrepreneurial culture in Pakistan, recently Centre for Entrepreneurial Development, IBA Karachi and GIFT University Gujranwala signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The main purpose of this MOU was to establish a strong liaison and collaboration between GIFT and IBA. The parties have agreed to work jointly for the promotion of entrepreneurship in the region.

For developing entrepreneurial culture, the two institutions have agreed to jointly establish a Centre for Entrepreneurship Development at GIFT University. This Centre will work for the enhancement of entrepreneurship activities in the area. It will accelerate culture of entrepreneurship amongst students, youth and public at large. The students will carry out research for collection and dissemination of information required for supporting start up ventures. The centre will provide technical & professional help and advice for nurturing of new enterprises. Awareness sessions, seminars and training programs will be conducted as it fosters the entrepreneurship and builds capacity of the SMEs. Through synergistic collaborations of academia, industry and government institutions, the spirit of entrepreneurship will be enhanced.

Rector GIFT University Dr. Iqbal Tahir and Dr. Ishrat Hussain Director IBA had signed this MOU. Mr. Nadeem Mustafa from GIFT and Dr. Shahid Quershi from CED IBA were also present at this ceremony. This MOU will enhance the relationship between GIFT and IBA and students learning will be improved.



DG Quality Assurance HEC Visits GIFT University.




GIFT University Gujranwala had the honour to welcome Ms. Zia Batool, Director General Quality Assurance and Statistics of Higher Education Commission Pakistan (HEC). She was accompanied by Deputy Directors Quality Assurance Mr. Nasir Shah and Mr. Munir Ahmad.

The purpose of this visit was to develop better understanding and coordination between GIFT University and Quality Assurance Agency (QAA). GIFT University is fully committed to imparting quality education. The management understands that offering quality education is not a destination; it is a journey which involves continuous improvement in quality parameters. The focus of the visit, therefore, was to seek the guidance and advice of QAA team for further enhancement of the standards of education at GIFT.

DG QA appreciated the academic facilities and quality of education being offered at GIFT. The QAA team also suggested various measures that the University could take to further improve its standards of education. The University management assured QAA team that the recommendations made by them will be implemented in letter and spirit.

The QAA team also visited Roshni Homes Trust, a CSR initiative of GIFT University and the Credence Group. The Trust provides a home, education and parental care to orphans. Roshni Homes is jointly funded by GIFT University and other entities of the Credence Group. The QAA team highly praised the environment and facilities provided to the orphans at Roshni Homes Trust.



2nd Convocation of GIFT University - 450 students Graduated.




The Second convocation and award distribution ceremony of GIFT University, Gujranwala was held in the Convocation Enclave on Wednesday, 26 January 2011. The Honorable Vice Chancellor of University of Punjab, Professor Dr Mujahid Kamran, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

In this convocation, 450 students who graduated between 2004 to 2009 were conferred upon the degrees of M.Sc Accounting & Finance, MBA, MA English, BBA, BBAIT, B.Sc CS and B.Des T&F. Gold and Silver medal were awarded to 27 position holders of the graduate and undergraduate programme.

The Rector Dr. Mohammad Iqbal Tahir said in his opening speech that GIFT University was established in 2002 and has achieved remarkable repute for imparting contemporary education in Pakistan. The University has become one of the leading educational institutes at the national level and has been awarded the “W” category. Its a great honor not only for the University but also for the people of this region that around 1,000 graduates of GIFT University are employed and working in reputable companies.

About the future plans, he mentioned that GIFT University plans to offer M. Phil in English and B. Sc (hons) in Home Economics. Also the university intends to develop a Department of Economics that will have linkages with reputable universities in the Muslim world. The University also plans to open a campus in Lahore in coming years. The Quality Assurance System according to the criteria of HEC is also under process to be established.

The President of GIFT University, Mr. Mohammad Anwar Dar while addressing the convocation, said that GIFT University is a radiant example of the success that results from the honesty dedication and purity of the cause. We had made a modest beginning 8 years ago but with a clear vision in our mind that is to bring about a change in the society. He also said that Ethical and moral values are an integral part of the curriculum. Our under graduate students also serve a social work internship with charitable organizations. These graduates are making a vital contribution in improving the performance of trade and industry. Concluding his speech he requested the students that while celebrating their success should remember the poor people of Pakistan and should always be generous and friendly towards them.

Professor Dr Mujahid Kamran, Vice Chancellor of University of Punjab appreciated the enviable progress made by GIFT University in a short span of time. He told that developed countries mainly focus on their education and have specified a good amount of budget for the education. Pakistani’s should realize that Muslim scientists like Al-beruni and Al-Hashim had contributed their success towards building Muslim rule all over the world. Government should make efforts to raise the educational budget following the international standards. He concluded by saying that Education is the only key to success for Pakistan.

The ceremony followed with the distribution of degrees to the graduates after which lunch was served for all the graduating students, their parents and guests.



Dollar East helps the flood victims of Kot Addu and Muzaffargarh



In this crucial situation when the country is drowned into disastrous floods, Credence Group (Dollar East) is also standing with flood victims in time of need and playing its part. The group is extending support and understanding the need of the hour. Recently, Dollar East Exchange Company has sent few truck loads of relief goods, mainly comprising food items, for the help of flood victims of Kot Addu and Muzaffargarh. The officials of Dollar East visited the affected areas and distributed the relief items to the people themselves so that the relief goods can reach the right individual.
